Inpatient Financial Counselor

A world-renowned Hospital in Nashville, TN is seeking an experienced Financial Counselor to support their Emergency Department.

This is a 12 week, onsite contract opportunity with the possibility of extension or permanent employment with a large healthcare organization.

Overview of Responsibilities:
- Conducts personal interview of patients gaining all required demographic and financial information.
- Verifies insurance coverage and benefit packages.
- Educates and assists patient with application other funding programs when criteria are met.
- Conducts follow-up on pending applications to ensure appropriate disposition of account.

Required Qualifications:
- Insurance Verification / Patient Registration Background
- EMR experience (EPIC preferred)
- Ability to be mobile / on foot majority of the shift
- Experience with Medicaid
- COVID-19 vaccination (no exemptions)

Additional Skills:
- Previous Financial Counseling experience
- Empathy for patients
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Self-starter

Schedule:
- 4x10 hour shifts (7:am-5:30pm)
- Will be scheduled every other weekend and 1-2 holidays per year

Pay: $18-21 per hour (depending on experience)

In order to be eligible for health benefits, you must be employed for 30 days and must average 30 hours per week over your first four weeks on assignment. Sick Pay: You will receive one day of Sick Time after working 600 hours and an additional day of Sick Time for every 300 hours after. **Please note that if you're in a city/state with unique PTO requirements, the city/state's policy will override Medix's internal PTO policy.
