Description

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking an Instructor for its Pathologists' Assistant Program. Duties include but are not limited to:Education:
  • educating pathologists' assistant students, pathology residents, medical students, graduate and undergraduate students in didactic and clinical environments
Surgical pathology:
  • perform gross examination, dissection, and photography of surgical pathology specimens of all complexity
  • selection and submission of tissue for tissue banking
  • perform intraoperative consultations including frozen sections, lymphoma protocol, touch preps, and gross margin status
  • Educate, supervise, and evaluate residents
Autopsy pathology:
  • perform post-mortem examinations including review of appropriate documentation and clinical history, external examination, internal examination and evisceration, organ dissection and sectioning, gross photography, completion of autopsy report
  • Educate, supervise, and evaluate residents
Administrative: supervise and evaluate residents in surgical and autopsy pathology; provide regular input for pathology residency program; supervise and evaluate pathologists' assistant students in didactic and clinical settings; QA data collection and reporting, departmental policy and procedure improvements

Qualifications

  • Master's degree granted by a NAACLS-accredited pathologists' assistant training program
  • ASCP certification as a pathologists' assistant
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Dedication to patient care
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
