Job Summary and Qualifications
Seeking an Instrument Technician who will be responsible for the decontamination, preparation and sterilization of supplies, instruments and equipment. As an Instrument Technician you will effectively maintain the National Standards and Recommended Practices for Sterilization, supplies, and equipment. You will also promote collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, department heads, and personnel of other departments. Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant has been nationally recognized for its record setting kidney, liver and pancreas transplant programs. It is home to the Texas Transplant Institute and is the largest living donor kidney transplant program in the US. According to the United Network of Organ Sharing database, the center reached a major milestone in 2019 by performing 231 living donor kidney transplants in a single year setting a new national record - that's 65 more transplants than the second center on the list.
In addition to transplant care, Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant is a full service hospital with over 260 beds that provides specialized services for liver cancer care, emergency care, weight loss surgery, urology surgery, vascular surgery, inpatient rehabilitation, colorectal surgery and behavioral health care. It is a designated Center of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. Our Sexual Assault Response Team provides a compassionate environment for sexual assault survivors ages 13+, serving as a model for hospitals and agencies all over the world. Job Summary and Qualifications
Seeking an Instrument Technician who will be responsible for the decontamination, preparation and sterilization of supplies, instruments and equipment. As an Instrument Technician you will effectively maintain the National Standards and Recommended Practices for Sterilization, supplies, and equipment. What You Will Do In This Role:
- You will clean department and sets up workstations according to department standards (in accordance with AORN and AAMI).
- You will demonstrate competence in selecting the appropriate chemical solutions for sterile processing washers, operation of washers and contaminated reusable surgical instruments.
- You will identify tray type by contents of instrument tray. Identifies instruments that do not function properly and replaces or reports instruments that need repair or that are missing.
- You will select appropriate packing material according to type of sterilization techniques to be used. You will also label sterilized products with identification, and sterilization indicators as in accordance with AORN and AAMI recommendations.
- You will maintain the integrity of sterilized packages when loading sterilization carts and after initial cool down period.
- You will perform high-level disinfection using established policies and procedures as required.

- High school diploma or GED equivalent
