Earn $60,000 annually

This position plays a key role in coordinating insurance coverage, processing insurance claims, and maintaining accurate financial records related to insurance premiums and liabilities. The Insurance Accountant will also assist in developing best practices and policies managing the company's insurance portfolio and ensuring compliance with insurance policies and regulations.

Insurance Portfolio Management:
  • Assist with the renewal of insurance policies for the company suite of insurance coverage, including property, casualty, liability, and other insurance coverages on an annual basis.
  • Analyze insurance needs based on company operations, risks, and regulatory requirements, and work with the brokers to determine appropriate insurance coverage options.
  • Work with insurance brokers to provide information to negotiate terms and pricing with insurance, carriers, and underwriters to optimize coverage and minimize costs.

Risk Assessment and Analysis:
  • Identify potential exposures and vulnerabilities to the company's assets, operations, and liabilities.
  • Evaluate insurance policies and coverage terms to ensure alignment with company risk management objectives and contractual obligations.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize the company's exposure to loss and liability.

Claims Management:
  • Oversee the processing of insurance claims
  • Review and evaluate insurance claims to determine coverage eligibility, assess liability
  • Maintain accurate records of insurance claims, settlements, and related expenses, and provide regular updates to management on claim status and resolution.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Record and reconcile insurance premiums, claims, reserves, and other insurance related transactions in the company's financial records.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and analyses on insurance costs, claim trends, loss ratios, and risk exposures for management review and decision making.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting insurance expenses and reserves, providing insights and recommendations to optimize insurance coverage and costs.
  • Prepare and post monthly insurance allocation of expense to subsidiaries

Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
  • Ensure compliance with insurance regulations, contractual requirements, and financial reporting standards applicable to insurance accounting.
  • Stay informed of changes in insurance laws, regulations, and industry best practices, and ensure that policies and procedures are updated accordingly.

Policy Administration and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of insurance policies, certificates of insurance, endorsements, and related documents.
  • Review insurance policy terms and conditions to ensure accuracy and completeness, and communicate relevant information to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal departments on insurance related matters, including coverage questions, claims procedures, and risk management strategies.
