About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Intelligence Analyst Supervisor in our Virginia Fusion Center at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will perform day-to-day oversight of the VSP Criminal Firearms Intelligence Program (CFIP) by ensuring analysts assigned to this team complete thorough and accurate analysis of subjects or groups engaged in criminal activity through the illegal use, sale, possession, and illicit trafficking of firearms in Virginia and develop actionable intelligence related to the activity. Pursuant to the goals of the CFIP, this position will provide oversight of tactical intelligence support to the Bureau of Field Operations (BFO) and the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) personnel for short- and long-term investigations on subjects engaged in illicit firearms activity so that they may be apprehended; identify relevant intelligence or information regarding illicit use, possession or sales of firearms that can be leveraged in the intelligence production cycle; and identify key intelligence gaps and include in written intelligence products and briefings. Overall analytic judgments made by this employee will have an impact in the implementation of accomplishing agency work and enhance the achievement of agency goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

•Considerable knowledge of research and analysis techniques.
•Considerable experience utilizing law enforcement databases and software to provide tactical case support. •Working knowledge of management and leadership principles, and supervisory practices.
•Working knowledge of Palantir, or other similar analysis applications designed to support law enforcement intelligence operations to produce maps, text, tables, graphs, link charts and other data visualizations.
•Prior experience using firearms information derived from the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), e-Trace, and the NIBIN Enforcement Support System (NESS) to support criminal investigations.
•Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications to generate written reports, briefings, charts, and graphs.
•Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, summarize, interpret, and communicate information and technical data orally and in writing.
•The ability to apply critical thinking to diverse information sets and produce logic-based crime analysis or intelligence products, maintain accurate and complete files, manage multiple priorities, and follow oral and written instructions; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and representatives of other agencies and organizations.
•Experience in social science, government, business, or criminal justice related fields and/or analytical experience to include crime analysis or intelligence analysis training. •Experience developing training curricula and training adult learners.
•Must have a valid driver's license and ability to obtain a federal security clearance.
•Requires three-year commitment to the Virginia Fusion Center and ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Considerations

•Experience in law enforcement, intelligence community, or public safety or other broad scope governmental experience desired.
