Description of Duties:

The Intermediate DCO Linux System Administrator supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
• Perform Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO)/Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) duties outlined in Evaluator Scoring Metrics (ESM).
• Perform system administration duties on DCO suite of applications.
• Support systems engineering, maintenance, and operations of cyber capabilities
• Assist in troubleshooting of hardware, software, and capability of the DCO suite of applications.
• Support the development, establishment, review and update of DCO procedures, processes, manuals, and other documentation.
• Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.
• Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
• Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.
• Implement and enforce local network usage policies and procedures
• Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.
• Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
• Manage system/server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
• Monitor and maintain system/server configuration.
• Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware.
• Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.
• Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
• Install, update, and troubleshoot systems/servers.

The successful candidate will:
• Skill in correcting physical and technical problems that impact system/server performance.

• Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.

• Knowledge of principles and methods for integrating system components.
• Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk).
• Knowledge of systems administration concepts.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies and virtual machine development and maintenance.
• Knowledge of organizational information technology (IT) user security policies (e.g., account creation, password rules, access control).
• Knowledge of basic system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques.
• Knowledge of national and international laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
• Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
• Knowledge of specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses.
• Knowledge of cloud computing service models Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
• Knowledge of cloud computing deployment models in private, public, and hybrid environment and the difference between on-premises and off-premises environments.
• Be willing to support troubleshooting for shift workers in a 24x7 operational environment and respond quickly to emergencies as needed.
• Be willing to support a rotating on-call schedule.
• Be able to multi-task and prioritize various projects and assignments in a dynamic work environment in order to meet scheduled/unscheduled customer requests.

This position can be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

This position is expected to pay $104,000 - $129,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 6 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 4 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree and 2 years of general experience.
• Must have 4 years of direct experience in information technology and system administration
• Must have a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification with Continuing Education (CE) - (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
• Must be able to obtain a DoD 8570.01-M CSSP Infrastructure Support certification with Continuing Education (CE) - (CEH, CySA+, GICSP, SSCP, CHFI, CFR, Cloud+, CND) (Note: Any/all expenses associated with obtaining this certification will be at the employees expense)
• Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret

Desired Requirements:
• Have experience with Linux system administration in a DoD environment.
• Have experience with Security Operations Centers (SOC)/DCO tools/applications, such as Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems / Intrusion Prevention Systems, Network Security Manager, Bluecoat, Barracuda, etc.
• Be able to mentor and train personnel in an evolving, high-paced environment
• Be familiar with DCO/Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP)-guiding security policies and procedures
• Have an active DoD Top Secret clearance
