Description of Duties:

The Senior Linux Systems Administrator supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
• Design, implement, troubleshoot, and sustain Linux based physical and virtual machines for the Missile Defense Space Center.
• Administer Container Platforms such as OpenShift, Docker, and Podman as-well-as maintain Repositories/Registries.
• Perform hardening of operating systems and STIG compliance.
• Creating and maintaining operating systems baselines.
• Work closely with a team of engineers, including system administrators, network engineers, system engineers, and cybersecurity engineers, to provide high quality, innovative engineering services to the Government customer.
• Work with system engineers to identify and define requirements for new systems/system modifications, developing designs, and implementing and testing solutions. Maintain associated documentation in accordance with DoD and NIST regulations.
• Perform vulnerability remediation and mitigations to reduce cybersecurity risks.
• Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations.
• Develop and maintain system administration procedures and baseline configuration documentation.
• Be responsible for ensuring system software installs, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
• Focus on creating, upgrading, managing and sustaining physical and virtual workstations and servers.
• Performance of high availability, to include load balancing, virtual IPs, Cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.
• Carrying out high- level activities associated with design and system architecture. Perform system level scripting through BASH, Python, YAML, and Perl.

• This position will provide support across multiple task orders.

This position can be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

This position is expected to pay $146,300 - $171,300 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 14 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 12 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree and 10 years of general experience; Master's degree and 8 years of general experience
• Must have 8 years of directly related experience to UNIX and/or Linux systems administrator experience
• Must have 3 years of experience in management or leadership roles.
• Must obtain a computing environment Linux certification (Linux+, RHCSA, LPIC, LFCS) within 90 days of hire
• Must meet DoD 8140 on the job training experience and/or certification requirements (e.g. Sec+)
• Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher

Desired Requirements:
• Have experience administering a Red Hat Linux environment using Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) Servers
• Have experience administering a Red Hat Linux in an air gapped environment
• Have a Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator Certification (EX280) or higher
• Have experience writing and executing Ansible playbooks
• Have experience conducting log analysis to assess root cause analysis
• Have experience with DISA tools used in scanning and remediating computer system vulnerabilities
• Have experience resolving hardware & software conflicts, performing server maintenance and break/fix activities
• Have comprehensive knowledge of VMware environments
• Have DoD networking experience with classified data networks and strong grasp of red/black concepts and IA compliance
