The Analytics & Innovation department focuses on solving exciting business problems and connecting dots across the enterprise to benefit employees, customers and shareholders. The objective of the team is to make analytics accessible, available, fast, repeatable and scalable. We partner with a variety of business units (e.g., Airport Operations, Technical Operations, Network Planning, Revenue Management, Crew, Catering, Contact Centers, HR Systems, etc.) to build value through collaborative innovation, transformation, process improvement, change management, mathematical modeling, statistics, data science and research. The Intern role includes the following responsibilities:



Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage data from a variety of sources to analyze business performance, identify areas of opportunity and deliver useful insights to operations leaders and front-line personnel
  • Partner with business collaborators to identify key initiatives and engage data analytics team members to complete delivery of balanced solutions to business problems, using data analysis, advanced analytics and data engineering standard methodologies
  • Test data and/or applications to validate data accuracy/quality
  • Supervise small to medium-sized projects from conceptualization to completion, including helping to build project roadmaps, project plans and requirements documentation
  • Lead status meetings and manage frequent status communication to business stakeholders, IT teams and senior leadership as required

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Must be a current undergraduate or master's student
  • Quantitative field such as engineering, business analytics, information systems, aviation management or related degree.
  • Internship requires a 3-month commitment during summer of 2025
  • Data analytics, strong strategic and critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to work with large datasets and reporting visualization tools, ability to tell a story using data.
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative concepts in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills, including proactively communicating project timelines and expectations.
  • Familiarity with database interface tools, SQL, Python, Psypark and programming concepts.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint


What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Tableu, Spotfire, or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and modeling, statistical tools and concepts, (R, SPSS, SAS) preferred.
