We're seeking someone to join our team as a Vice President on the Risk Management Capital Planning audit team to lead assurance activities related to firmwide Capital Planning, including risk identification, scenario design, stress loss projections and risk reporting.

The Internal Audit Division (IAD) drives attention and resources to vulnerabilities by providing an independent and well-informed view and impactful messages about the most important risks facing our Firm. This is accomplished by performing a range of assurance activities to independently assess the quality and effectiveness of Morgan Stanley's system of internal control, including risk management and governance systems and processes. IAD serves as an objective and independent function within the Firm's risk management framework to foster continual improvement of risk management processes. This is a Vice President level position within Business Audit, which is responsible for inspecting controls in front, middle and back offices.

What you'll do in the role:

• Conduct risk assessment to prioritize coverage and align coverage strategy, scope of testing, and inspection techniques accordingly

• Lead a wide range of assurance activities (e.g., audits, continuous monitoring, closure verification) to assess risk and the state of controls within coverage area

• Comprehensively articulate actionable insights regarding criticality and impact of risk and how well risk is managed to senior stakeholders and regulator

• Identify KRIs/KPIs and associated data sources to inform views on risk within coverage area

• Collaborate with global peers to identify and discuss risk themes and implications across business segment

• Help inform and address talent needs within coverage area, and identify stretch and development opportunities for team member

• Manage effective deployment and utilization of resources across assurance activities and deliverable

• Manage / coordinate all aspects of Risk Management Capital Planning assurance activitie

including planning, fieldwork and reporting

• Manage / coordinate closure verification of audit issues by reviewing and documenting independent analyses for assigned issue

• Manage a small global team of auditors based in New York, Mumbai and London

• Liaise with regulators from the Federal Reserve and OCC, or PRA, as needed

Qualifications:

What you'll bring to the role:

• At least 8 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

• Advanced understanding of Capital Planning and the financial services industry, including risks, emerging risks and regulations related to various capital planning matters including, but not limited to, CCAR reporting

• Expertise in audit principles, methodology, tools and processes (e.g., risk assessments, planning, testing, reporting and continuous monitoring)

• Ability to analyze data and prioritize coverage and assurance activities based on the criticality of risk

• Ability to inspire and support others to do their best work through active coaching, feedback and development opportunities, and by ensuring trust and inclusion among team member

• Experience in overseeing resource utilization and monitoring progress against deliverable

• Ability to build credible relationships with key stakeholders and senior management

Expected base pay rates for the role in Baltimore will be between $120,000 and $225,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
