As an Internal Communications Manager, you will develop and implement strategic internal communications focused on enhancing associate experience, building understanding and engagement of operational priorities and ultimately helping strengthen the culture of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Help develop and drive the execution of a strategic and measurable internal communications plans focused on associate engagement and retention
- Provide internal communications counsel and appropriate support to leaders across the organization
- Develop internal communications content, campaigns and events that support market business and operational objectives with communications that are clear, actionable and transparent
- Proactively identify trends, risks, challenges and solutions to process adoption, and lead and support change communication efforts
- Combine strategic thinking and big-picture perspective with attention to detail, clarity and focus
- Collaborate with colleagues across the local market as well as enterprise-wide teams to ensure alignment and best practice
- Ensure communications reflect the Mission, Vision and Values of Ascension as a healing ministry of the Catholic Church
- Develop a 'journalist' mindset as you look for stories that will celebrate our associates and the inspirational work they do in service to our Mission
- Maintain flexible availability and responsiveness both during and outside of normal work hours as necessary
Complexity of Work:
- Requires outstanding writing, critical thinking, and strategic counseling skills, as well as decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a high-performance environment. Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus.
- Ideally the candidate will also have a knowledge of the evolving healthcare market, Ascension's history and current initiatives, and communications practices and standards.

Requirements
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree
- About 10 years in an internal communications role, ideally with experience working in a healthcare provider system or similar services organization
- About 3 years of leadership or management experience
Work Experience:
- Experience with associate engagement and implementing large-scale change communications efforts
- Ability to write and edit engaging and visually appealing communications using a variety of media and channels
- Experience supporting senior leaders with strategic communications counsel
- Experience planning and managing a coordinated content approach that directly impacts engagement of key audiences in support of our business goals
- Strong collaboration skills with other team members
- Adept at the rapid development of content in support of business and organizational communications needs
- Experience working against clearly outlined KPIs and supporting the reporting of results to multiple teams
- Proven driver and communicator across matrixed organizations, helping to gain internal buy-in and support
- Communications or journalism degree preferred
- Experience with intranet platform/technology preferred but not required
