Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept
The Department of International and Global Studies at Portland State University enhances global awareness and provides opportunities for both academic enrichment and personal growth. The department promotes the development of critical thinking, self-reflection and cross-cultural skills that students continue to utilize long after graduation.

Areas of thematic focus include International Development Studies, and Global Studies. Areas of regional focus include Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
Position Summary
The Department of International & Global Studies seeks qualified instructors to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the subject areas listed above. Please see the course descriptions in the PSU Catalog: http://pdx.smartcatalogiq.com/2021-2022/Bulletin/Courses/Intl-International-Studies
Courses may be offered in person, in a hybrid format, or online, synchronously or asynchronously. This is a listing for adjunct pool recruitment purposes. However, the actual course offerings will be based on availability of funds and the needs of the department.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate degree in the subject and 3 years of professional experience, or current Ph.D. candidate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D.
  • Experience using Canvas or a similar LMS
  • Experience teaching in an online or remote format

Compensation Minimum rate: $1084 per credit hour (plus cost of living adjustment to be determined). Compensation dependent upon qualifications and experience.
