POSITION SUMMARY

The Interventional Radiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works in collaboration with the Interventional Radiologists to provide comprehensive care for their patients. The APP is responsible for the following tasks: patient evaluation, completing history and physical exams, ordering diagnostic studies, interpreting test results, performing radiological procedures under imaging guidance (see list below), providing oral and written communication with referring physicians and other clinical staff, developing and implementing patient treatment plans all under the guidelines set forth in the Standard Care Arrangement. The APP will also be expected to write prescriptions for patients under the guidelines set forth in the Standard Care Arrangement. As a clinical leader for the Interventional Radiology program, the APP is involved in process improvement projects and is an educational resource for patients, families, and staff.

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience in Acute Care Nursing and Procedural Nursing Preferred

• Interventional Radiology or comparable invasive (i.e., vascular surgery/ EM) procedure experience preferred

• Current license and certificate of authority to practice as a PA/NP in the State of North Carolina is required.

• Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the North Carolina Board of Nursing

• BLS AND ACLS certification required

PROCEDURE EXPERIENCE

• Removal of tunneled and non-tunneled lines

• Non-tunneled (including PICC lines and temporary hemodialysis catheters)

• Tunneled Line placement

• Drainages

• Thoracentesis

• Paracentesis

• Simple US or CT guided abscess drains including chest tubes

• Fluoroscopic imaging including, UGI, BE, and HSG

• Drain removals

• Biopsies

• Simple biopsies including liver, thyroid, bone marrow and superficial structures

• Spinal Procedures

• LP

• Myelogram

• Blood patch

• Arthrograms
