The key responsibilities of this internship in an Information Technology office with General Services Department would typically encompass a range of tasks designed to provide a broad overview of IT operations in the public sector, while also contributing to the intern's learning and professional development. These responsibilities might include:

1. Assisting with Basic IT Support Tasks such as: troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting staff with technical problems, and learning about the maintenance of IT equipment.
2. Participate in Software Development Projects: Under supervision, interns might contribute to coding, testing, or documentation of software projects, providing them with practical coding experience and an understanding of the software development lifecycle.
3. Involvement in Network Management: Gaining insights into the management of the state government's network infrastructure, including monitoring and supporting network performance.
4. Documentation and Reporting: Assist in the creation and management of technical documentation for IT processes and systems, as well as helping to prepare reports on IT project status, issues and resolutions.

Minimum Qualification

Current enrollment in High School curriculum or GED/HiSET education program OR High School Graduate or successful completion of GED or HiSET within the last two (2) years.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

As a high school intern, this position will work part-time, 10-30 hours per week. Work is performed in an office setting, located in the Joseph M. Montoya building. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of sitting. Some standing, bending, and reaching may be required.
