Job type: Full-Time

Immediately hiring for IT Mergers & Acquisitions Senior Support Specialist
Position type: Full-time/Direct Hire
Location: Remote

As an IT Mergers & Acquisitions Senior Support Specialist you will be responsible for working in support of and on the IT infrastructure side of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A's) of Engineering and Design firms into the company from start to finish. This role will contribute, support, and, in cases, lead M&A efforts and projects. This will involve direct user support through the migration process, data migrations, configuration, and installation of new physical equipment, and ultimately includes decommissioning of legacy equipment. All of this will be done in partnership with the IT and M&A Departments.
  • 10+ years' experience with IT infrastructure cutovers or buildouts is required
  • Mergers and acquisition experience on the IT side is preferred

Some key duties and responsibilities include:
  • Identify and understand the IT topology of the acquisition, with the understanding that there will be an unknown multitude of new/old physical servers, networks, SANs and other IT equipment regularly seen during M&A's.
  • Ensure legacy data, email, Teams, systems, and any needed items are migrated over to our standard IT infrastructure and equipment so it can be supported for the long term
  • Directly assist users during the transition phase both in person and virtually. This may be done by providing guidance, planning, or executing plans in coordination with our IT and M&A departments
  • Assess and document how "legacy" IT infrastructure is used at an acquisition and how existing data will be migrated/archived onto modern cloud-first solutions already in place in Microsoft Azure
  • Perform data and email migration tasks from legacy to modern cloud-first solutions already in place or architected in Microsoft Azure using both 3rd party tools
  • Configure and install new IT infrastructure equipment onsite consisting of firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and servers and ensure IT standards are consistent across the organization
  • Physically set up and maintain IT server rooms across the organization by organizing cables, managing/monitoring UPS's, monitoring temperatures, securing, and ensuring IT standards are consistent across the organization in these rooms
  • Develop a decommission plan and schedule to eliminate all legacy IT equipment regularly seen during M&A's
  • Handle various office consolidations, moves, and remodels as above
  • Field incoming help requests from end users via Teams, telephone, and work orders
  • Act as a team lead for junior support staff
  • Act as 2nd and/or 3rd level support for advanced technical issues, including but not limited to the support of Autodesk, Bentley, and other engineering specific software products
  • Position requires 25% Travel with some travel over weekends, (when acquisitions are cut over to the corporate network.)
Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:
  • Exceptional communication skills for communicating both up and down the organization. We directly work with all levels of staff and regularly communicate with leadership on all sides throughout the acquisition process.
  • Ability to understand and follow a complex process. While no single step is complicated, there are a lot of steps on the IT side for an acquisition and the order and quality of work is critical. Expectations are that this will take time to fully understand, and that you'll help to improve the process once you get your feet under you.
  • Willingness to speak up quickly when you need help as it's key to getting up to speed quickly and understanding the larger picture.
  • Technical writing skills for accurate and details-oriented documentation of IT infrastructure, plans, and schedules.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills over a wide range of IT infrastructure.
  • Strongly independent but you will be fully backed by an excellent team.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and an understanding of the limits of written communication, (when to use which option and how to use them effectively.)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on relationship-building, listening, and questioning skills.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours requests on a limited basis.

Education and experience requirements are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 10+ years' experience with IT infrastructure cutovers or buildouts is required
  • Mergers and acquisition experience on the IT side is preferred
So, what are you waiting for?

What you can expect in this position
  • First 60 days you'll be getting your feet under you. You'll be expected to learn our systems and tools, who to talk to for your needs and to actively assist in work for current and past acquisitions with guidance from your manager. You will be assisting with work which is already in flight prior to your joining the company and you will spend a lot of time with your manager going of what to do and more importantly why they're done. You will be expected to ask lots of questions. If you're not asking a LOT of questions in your first 60 days, that would be a major concern as there is no other way to get up to speed. Your manager, (and the entire team), will be available to help guide you and answer questions as this is a key area. You will also be supported by our IT and M&A staff to help guide you until you're more comfortable.
  • 60 days to 6 months, expectations are you'll be more effective in your role and know who to talk to for resolving issues. You will be given more complicated tasks at this time which you will be expected both manage and complete during this window of time. There will absolutely be cases where you'll need guidance or have questions and you are expected to reach out to your manager for help/guidance during these times so we can work together to resolve the problem and educate you as we go. You'll have a lot thrown at you in this phase and expectations are you will speak up when you are struggling so we can help you. This should be a time of learning, not one of frustration, so expectations are for you communicate with your manager, (and others), during this time often, fail fast, ask questions, and provide ideas.
  • After 6 months you'd be expected to be more or less self-sufficient and self-directed and able to follow each of the steps in an acquisition in the proper order. While there will be a minimal number tickets from users, this role is more of a project manager/lead role with a focus on higher level tasks and is a results-oriented position, so those would be your metric to assess your performance in this role. There are a lot of variables with these acquisitions, so I would expect this role to be one of constant learning and development. Each of these acquisitions are different, but the goal is the same, to profitably get our acquisitions migrated into the corporate model on the IT side so they're supportable for the long term and for the employees involved have a good experience as they're brought on board. With IT being one of the first groups "in the door" on these acquisitions, it's critical we set the proper tone with solid communication and results as what we do as a group colors all other aspects for the staff involved.
