Summary

This vacancy is for a IT Specialist (DATA MGT) position in the Application Development Services Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.

Duties

  • Develops the functional systems requirements and specifications.
  • Reviews requirements, applies available technologies and basic management principles, planning, design, and development of Enterprise Database systems (SQL Server).
  • Leads the development and administration of SQL Server database services.
  • Ensures complete and accurate backups of the SQL Server infrastructure on a regular schedule or ensures that the appropriate parties are engage.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes serving as a technical expert installing, configuring and administering MS SQL Server databases in Failover Cluster Instance (FCI) and Always On High availability groups configuration; providing ongoing support and assistance in daily operations, maintenance, management, backup, recovery, disaster recovery and administration of complex MS SQL Server databases in Enterprise multi-tenant, SharePoint and Project Server environments; serving as a technical expert in providing management and administration of MS SQL Server Business Intelligence tools - SQL Server Analysis Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Application Services (SSAS); and serving as a technical expert in managing MS SQL Server security and resolving MS SQL Server data and security issues.

In addition to the above specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate one year of Information Technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

Additional information

If hired for this position with the Census Bureau, at its headquarters office located in Suitland, Maryland, you will be expected to temporarily telework to maximum extent while the headquarters building is being renovated. Once renovations are completed for your area, you will be notified when to return to the office. At that time, you will be expected to work from your duty station, and you may be eligible to telework, up to 8 days a pay period depending on your respective work schedule, with approval from your supervisor.

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Your resume, optional cover letter and supporting documentation will be reviewed to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications for the position.
