Qualifications
To qualify for an IT Specialist APPSW/SYSANALYSIS), your qualifications must include:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include:
- Defining, developing, testing, and implementing systems applications and processes in assigned program areas; Predicting impact on system and subsystem from a given change; Providing cost effective business solutions; Isolating problems in operating system/database/application software, maintenance techniques and networking capabilities.
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Duties
- Serves as an IT Specialist and member of a support team in the Defense Automatic Addressing System (DAAS).
- Participates in a variety of systems engineering assignments to include but not limited to system/network design, product development, personal computer/office automation support and infrastructure support.
- System engineering assignments include may include but are not limited to work with network software (FTP, SMTP, utilities, and monitoring tools), and communication circuits (voice, internet, NIPRNET, dedicated circuits, dial-up, LAN, WAN).
- Provides IT support to one or more ADP and/or telecommunications AISs, PC/office automation and/or telecommunications infrastructure and serves as a technical authority in these areas.
- Provides IT support in the organization system, software, and infrastructure engineering.
- Serves as a software, hardware, and telecommunications system administrator in support of system integration requirements.
- Develops processing software that executes on a series of HPUX, RHEL and/or Windows servers running in a distribution environment.
