Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) - TITLE 32, Position Description Number D2560000 and is part of the KY G6, National Guard.

Duties

As a IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) - TITLE 32, GS-2210-9, you will serve as a systems administrator for the less complex systems. Modify, test and implement system backup and recovery strategies for assigned system. Implement and troubleshoot system performance. Report unresolved problems to a higher-graded system administrator. Diagnose system failures to isolate source of problems between equipment, system software, and application programs. Provide technical assistance to personnel involved in system design, programming, hardware selection and adapting software to meet the needs of the customer. Implement systems software changes, operating system releases and maintains the operational status of systems. Assist in analyzing and evaluating proposed changes to multiple computer systems. Assist in determining equipment demands, number and kinds of records, files, communications and procedures necessary to obtain, organize information and interfaces with other systems. Assist in the installation and configuration of hardware and software applications. Schedule the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications. Write program scripts to facilitate backup and recovery procedures. Perform security management in accordance with National Guard Bureau (NGB) regulations and state policies. Review and implement local policies regarding system access, network rights, and physical access to systems and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.

You must be assigned to a compatible military position.

Wear of the military uniform.

Position may require a pre-employment physical.

May be subject to furlough actions.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.

Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.

Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare eligibility.

This position is located on a tobacco free facility.

Incumbent must complete appropriate training and obtain required certifications IAW DoDI 8140, DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level

All certifications are required within 6 month of employment.

Position is designated as OM-ADM-001 within the Defense Cybersecurity Workforce as guided by NIST SP 800-181; National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework. Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least 24 months experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
