Job Duties

The Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia is seeking applicants for the position of Financial Court Analyst on the JDR Court Services Team. The Financial Court Analyst is responsible for providing system development, installation, and technical assistance services to JDR and Combined District Courts in Virginia for the Financial Accounting System (FAS) and related hardware/software products, providing daily telephone and email support to JDR and Combined District Courts. The Financial Analyst provides ongoing training and support of court personnel in the financial operations of the court to ensure compliance with set procedures and guidelines, particularly in the areas of bank reconciliation, the assessment and collection of criminal fines and costs, and receipting of fees for civil filings. The Financial Analyst provides analysis of overall court financial operations, reviews new laws to determine the financial impact on clerk's office procedures, conducts training at state-wide conference and regional events, develops and maintains financial operations manuals, monitors the approval and development of financial system changes, prepares test plans and performs testing on modifications to the FAS application, and assists in the preparation of software change advisory and release notices. The Financial Analyst acts as a liaison with other state agencies such as the Auditor of Public Accounts, the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Accounts, and the Department of Taxation.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of five (5) years of direct experience with the Virginia JDR Court system, including its operation, processes, and procedures. Demonstrated competence in JDR Court procedures, experience with organizational management techniques, and experience with the Financial Accounting System (FAS) and the Juvenile Case Management System (JCMS). Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and work effectively with legal and business personnel. Strong interpersonal skills, detail-oriented with strict attention and appreciation for deadlines.

Additional Considerations

• A minimum of three (3) years bookkeeping experience with the Virginia JDR Court system

The position may be eligible for remote work; it requires occasional travel throughout the Commonwealth.
