Job Title: Instructor, Land Surveying (Tenure Track)

Overview:
Cincinnati State is looking for an Instructor (Tenure Track) to provide instruction in Land Surveying. The position is a full-time; tenure-track faculty position in which the primary responsibility is to develop and provide classroom and laboratory instruction of credit-bearing courses and assist with program assessment and curriculums within the Land Surveying programs.

The ideal candidate should have broad knowledge and experience in Land Surveying technologies used within the industry. Depending upon experience, this position will be responsible for classroom and/or online instruction in courses such as:
  • Route Surveying
  • Surveying History
  • Control Surveying
  • Geospatial Surveying
  • AutoCAD


Essential Duties:
  • Develop and deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons. Assist in the development of new and maintenance of existing courses/curricula. Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials.
  • Ensure that students achieve course and learning outcomes as defined by the program chair.
  • Complete, as directed, all start and end of semester responsibilities, including submission no-show rosters, final grades and other designated materials to the Academic Office.
  • Maintain office hours to answer student questions and handle course related matters.
  • Respond to requests (e.g., from students, academia area chairs, department heads, committee chairs, Records office) in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Support College and Division outreach and recruiting events.
  • Attend program, departmental, divisional, and college meetings.
  • Some night or weekend hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Industry experience in Land Surveying.
  • Professional Licensure in Land Surveying.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university or ability to obtain in 3 years.
  • Teaching experience at the Secondary or Post-Secondary level.

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities in the classroom and laboratories.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral with the ability to communicate/interact effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.
  • Excellent customer service skills in problem solving, analytical, decision-making, project management skills, and time management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, be self-motivated, work independently, and be committed as a team player, pay attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere in program and curriculum development.
  • Computer based software, analytical, and report writing skills.
