Strabane Woods of Washington is looking to hire a Journeyman aka Maintenance technician to join their team!

Purpose:
Ensure the mechanical systems and equipment, including air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems, are maintained in optimal condition for efficient facility operation.

Responsibilities:
  • System Inspections & Repairs:
    • Inspect and diagnose deficiencies or malfunctions in mechanical air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment.
    • Repair and correct mechanical devices based on inspections and gathered information from blueprints, instruction books, and sketches.
    • Ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely.
  • Preventive Maintenance & Safety:
    • Perform preventive maintenance and proactively address potential issues to keep equipment in top working order.
    • Monitor meters, gauges, signal lights, and other warning devices for potential problems, making necessary adjustments.
    • Follow infection control procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
    • Complete and record work orders, and submit hours to the supervisor daily.
  • Facility Maintenance:
    • Maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas, equipment rooms, and shop areas.
    • Fabricate and uphold ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) standards in accordance with UPMC policies.
    • Perform technical services for building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and complex electrical systems.
  • Plumbing & Electrical Maintenance:
    • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including domestic water, waste, medical gas, and vacuum systems.
    • Handle electrical distribution systems, lighting, and electrically operated equipment with installation, repair, and preventive maintenance.
  • HVAC & Refrigeration:
    • Perform installation, repair, and preventive maintenance on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
  • General Maintenance:
    • Execute carpentry tasks related to repair, renovation, or construction.
    • Paint and install/repair vinyl wall coverings and repair wall surfaces before applying finishes.
    • Maintain and repair communication systems and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Utility Systems & Grounds Maintenance:
    • Operate and understand all components of utility systems, including location and function of controls and shutoff procedures.
    • Perform grounds maintenance, including snow and ice removal during winter.
    • Transport system equipment and supplies, operate vehicles, light trucks, and maintenance equipment.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Perform security functions when required.
    • Conduct testing, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs according to established policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrate reliability, independent judgment, and effective prioritization to meet departmental needs and adhere to authority guidelines.


Qualifications:

    • High School diploma with three-year apprenticeship in institutional refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems is required.
    • Completion of a recognized course in institutional refrigeration and air conditioning may be substituted year for year for apprenticeship and experience, or equivalent, such as on-the-job training. Ex: 3 years of related work experience.
    • Must have working knowledge of plumbing, steam fitting and sheet metal work.
    • May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medication is stored.
    • No contact with medications is allowed.
      Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    • • Valid Driver's License required.
    • • Must possess appropriate license or registration to meet code requirements, as needed.
