Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lab Technician to join our team. The Lab technician will be responsible for maintaining our ISO 17025 accreditation and performing a variety of tests on coal samples. The ideal candidate will have a background in analytical chemistry, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
Accreditation:
Maintain and manage accreditation requirements, including documentation, quality management, and internal audits.
Conduct internal audits and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
Coal Testing:
- Perform accurate and precise analysis of coal samples, including but not limited to:
- Maintain laboratory instruments and apparatus and ensure preventative maintenance is conducted.
- Calibration of instruments.
- Verify test results against control samples and charts.
- Cleaning of laboratory and immediate working area.
- Comply with and adhere to all quality and safety requirements
- Perform a range of routine test work within set guidelines and priorities

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; a Masters degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably within the coal or mining industry.
- chemical knowledge and mechanical knowledge

Proven experience with ISO 17025 accreditation and internal auditing processes.
Proficient in using laboratory equipment, including spectrophotometers and other analytical instruments.
Strong understanding of analytical techniques for coal testing, including ash content, chlorine, fluorine, volatile matter, FSI, and elemental analysis.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
