• AdventHealth Lake Wales is a licensed 160-bed hospital, with 24-hour emergency care and outpatient services including imaging, rehab, lab and wound care, that has been serving the community and surrounding areas.

• Lake Wales is located in Central Florida in between Orlando and Tampa and is home to the Historic Bok Tower Gardens and Bird Sanctuary.

The role you'll contribute:

The Laboratory Assistant II performs various laboratory support procedures in assigned areas which may include phlebotomy and/or specimen processing in clinical and anatomical pathology areas. The Laboratory Assistant II must meet the required basic continuing education and department specific requirements. Work customarily involves practical knowledge in various laboratory procedures and support functions. May be asked to perform any of the following non technical functions:

The value you'll bring to the team:

• Collects patient, physician and test order information in order to create patient accounts. This includes verifying patient identification, insurance information, physician credentials and test order requirements.
• Blood specimen collection to include phlebotomy and skin puncture for all age groups
• General equipment maintenance, function checks and documentation
• Receives, and processes patient specimens which includes separating specimens by centrifugation prior to testing. May include transporting.
• Aliquots different sample types, if needed, and either loads preanalytical instruments, which include automated stainers, or delivers them to the testing department
• Cytopreparatory staining

Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed :

• High School degree or equivalent
• Six months of relevant healthcare experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Driver's License if required by facility.
