The base site work location for this position will be finalized when an offer is made to a candidate.

Interview

Interviews will be conducted by the hiring manager, a registered professional engineer with 40 years of experience, and his senior manager, the Director of Data Center Facilities. The interviews will delve into determining the depth of the candidate's actual experience in the specialized mission critical world of data center facilities and their operation challenges.

What does the ideal candidate background look like (ex: healthcare specific background, etc.)? The ideal candidate would have many years (5 minimum) of electrical power distribution experience in a data center facilities specific role (with the emphasis on facilities). Experience in other mission critical facility types like hospitals, 911 call centers, and chip production plants can count towards those five years. The whole notion is about achieving and sustaining uninterruptible 7 x 24 uptime and the power systems required to produce this. We want to be as specific as possible with our firms so they can find the type of candidate you're looking for.

Of the required skills listed, which would you consider the top 3? Please list your expectations regarding years of experience for each requirement. 1) Five years of designing, constructing, commissioning, operating, and maintaining complex electrical systems for mission critical facilities; 2) Fluent with highly reliable, concurrently maintainable, redundant, low and medium voltage power distribution systems down to the information technology (IT) rack level including the necessary monitoring and control automation to sustain safe 7 x 24 x 365 year-round operation (8 years, minimum); 3) Project management and team interaction experience with successfully delivering long-term multi-million-dollar electrical projects within established budget and schedule constraints (8 years, minimum).

What does the team structure look like - how many members and what is the break-down of the teams skill sets (ex: 1 PM, 4 Developers, etc.)? I'm working to re-establish a three-person team (Lead Mechanical Engineer, Lead Electrical Engineer, and Data Center Facility Consultant). I'm the Lead Mechanical Engineer and also the technical supervisor/manager of this data center facilities engineering team. We in turn interface with a minimum of eleven other managers within the Data Center Facilities group and their numerous subordinates.
