Summary

  • Serves as the Team Lead for the Operation and Infrastructure team within the High Explosive Research & Development Facility (HERD).
  • Provides the primary interface to facility personnel for repair or upgrade of all systems and facilities used in the formulation, processing, and testing of energetic materials.
  • Interfaces with external researchers requiring utilization of facilities and capabilities.
  • Manages operations performed by on-site and external government and contract services (including facility support, real property maintenance).
  • Coordinates and leads work involving the direct interaction with diverse organizations (including Organization Facilities Management, Base Civil Engineering, Environmental Management, Fire, Safety, Security, & Bioenvironmental) in support of a unique facility composed of highly complex equipment to support energetics research.
  • Conducts routine inspections of facilities to ensure they are in good working order, leads minor maintenance activities and inspects construction activities to verify compliance with organizational requirements and governmental guidelines.
  • Develops plans for facility and equipment modification and adaption for mission use.
  • Develops and manages contracts associated with maintenance and corrective activities.
  • Plans for HERD real property maintenance and repair requirements by developing preliminary design specifications and assisting in the preparation of budget inputs.
  • Develops short- and long-range plans for facilities upgrade projects in conjunction with the organization facilities program.
  • Coordinates project operations with all organizations to ensure minimal impact to research productivity.
  • Maintains HERD data for entry into facility management database that defines and tracks real property and infrastructure modifications.
  • Serves as technical lead for in-house databases that track work order requests, key tracking management, equipment tracking and other duties as assigned.

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. To qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DO-01 (GS-11) broadband. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
