City of Phoenix technology professionals work on critical systems that allow us to support and provide services to Phoenix residents and businesses. Public Works Information Technology (PWIT) offers technical support for more than 110 applications essential for fleet and facilities management operations.

The Public Works Department is seeking a Lead Information Technology Systems Specialist (LITSS) to guide the technological direction of the department by constructing business plans, overseeing IT professionals, developing and implementing strategies for technology projects, evaluating new technology solutions, and addressing technology lags within existing systems that need to be updated. This position will provide leadership in establishing services following the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service framework and demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset to increase the effectiveness of our services to the benefit of our internal customers.

Operational activities will include oversight of the Badge Imaging Office, LAN administration, technical support, IT management tools, Active Directory (AD), user identity, user device procurement, cyber security, work order ticketing, along with server and storage coordination. In addition, the role is responsible for IT incident response to restore services as quickly as possible while working to identify root-cause post incident in collaboration with Information Technology Services.

Success in this role requires excellent communication and collaboration with department operations, executive staff, and other Information Technology Service Teams. Attention to detail, problem-solving, driving with metrics/analytics, ITIL service methodology, collaboration, team development, vendor management, proactive planning, resource and task management, and strong execution skills are required to deliver on the goal of this position.

SALARY

Pay Range: $102,668.80 to $151,694.40 annually.

Hiring Range: $102,668.80 to $137,592.00 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of experience developing, evaluating, using, and maintaining technical system hardware and software.
  • AND Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

Experience with:
  • Three or more years supervising technical personnel and overseeing and managing IT operations, systems, and infrastructure for a large organization.
  • Proven experience providing technological direction, implementing strategies for technology projects, and evaluating new technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex technical issues, key risks, and recommendations to senior-level management in a non-technical manner.
  • IT in public sector organizations.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders.
