Overview
As a Locksmith at the Miami Beach Convention Center, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the security and functionality of all doors and locking mechanisms throughout the venue. Under the leadership of the Director of Venue Operations, your primary responsibility will be to ensure all locks, doors, and access control systems are in pristine working condition. You will perform routine inspections, repairs, and installations, while promptly addressing any issues that may compromise the safety or operations of the facility. Your attention to detail and technical expertise will contribute to a secure, efficient, and seamless event environment.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $38.71

While performing the responsibilities of the Locksmith, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is constantly required to exert various types of physical exertion, such as prolonged reaching, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

The Locksmith works in indoor and outdoor work settings with mild to adverse exposure to environmental hazards. The incumbent must be able to climb stairs and ladders and walk long distances to access all areas of the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to loud. Incumbents in this position work in varying settings and will be subject to noise and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odor, dust, etc.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Flexible hours with ability to work varying shifts, including:
Nights: (as needed), Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays (as needed), Holidays: Major holidays, including but not limited to: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (as needed), Ability to work overtime as required.
Schedule may vary depending on business needs and may require adaptability and flexibility, Some weeks may require more hours than others, and schedule may need to be adjusted accordingly

Responsibilities

- Install, repair, and maintain locks, doors, and security devices throughout the facility
- Cut and program keys for staff, guests, and vendors
- Respond to lockout calls and resolve issues promptly
- Perform routine maintenance on locks, doors, and security systems
- Collaborate with security team to ensure facility security and access control
- Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inventory management
- Stay up to date with industry developments and best practices in locksmithing
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities
- Perform carpentry tasks such as installing, repairing, and replacing doors, walls, and floors
- Build and install cabinets, shelving, and other fixtures
- Conduct repairs on furniture and equipment
- Assist with event setup and teardown, including installing and removing partitions, ramps, and other structures
- Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as electricians and plumbers, on projects and repairs
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5+ years of experience as a Locksmith and have a valid Dade County or state locksmith license
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work at heights
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Familiarity with security systems, access control, and electronic locks
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in Locksmithing (e.g., ALOA, ILA) a plus
