JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: School Counselor/Educator
SCHOOL: HHES
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be NH certified or in the process of obtaining NH certification
REPORTS TO: Building Administration
HOURS: Per Collective Bargaining Agreement
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and maintains a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling services
Implements developmentally appropriate and prevention / proactive activities to achieve the goals and objectives of the MRSD Comprehensive School Counseling Plan and / or building needs and initiatives
Collaborates with school personnel and outside resources to provide the services required to increase student engagement
Assists students individually or in groups, with developing academic, and social / emotional goals and plans
Provides individual short-term counseling and/or group counseling for students to meet their remedial, preventative, and developmental needs
Regularly assesses the progress of students in group counseling and/or guidance and evaluates the overall effectiveness of interventions
Conducts regular public awareness initiatives that highlight school counseling program activities, services, and accomplishments with the goal of promoting student, staff, and community participation
Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational planning
Assists families with finding mental health centers / clinics / therapists outside the school setting
Effectively communicates with all stakeholders in an articulate, thoughtful, and personable manner
Adheres to the laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession
Contributes to the Student Support Team in meaningful ways
Conducts an annual audit of the school counseling program using data to evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented counseling program and shares the data as appropriate
Participates in professional growth activities and complete a professional development plan that includes professional conferences and workshops related to best practices in the field of school counseling and a comprehensive school counseling program
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master's Degree in content area preferred
Experience working with students of elementary age preferred
