Summary:
We are seeking a Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Equipment Technician (Steam) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, assessing, operating, repairing, and maintaining various US Naval Ships' equipment, including Centrifugal Air Conditioning Plants, Reciprocating Air Conditioning Plants, Ships Service Refrigeration System, Chilled Water Pumps, High Pressure Air Compressors (HPAC's), Low Pressure Air Compressors (LPAC's), Medium Pressure Air Compressors (MPAC's), Weapon Systems Air Compressors (WSHPAC's), Emergency Breathing Air Compressors (EBAC's), SCBA Compressors, Deballast Compressors, and LP/HP Dehydrators. The candidate should be proficient in using general and special purpose electronic test equipment and possess an EPA "Universal" Certification to handle/work with refrigerant.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, assess, operate, repair, and maintain Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Equipment (Steam) on US Naval Ships.
- Utilize accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment issues.
- Interpret wiring diagrams and control schematics to troubleshoot and analyze equipment problems.
- Provide distance support for listed equipment as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Assist with the preparation and adjudication of Departures from Specifications (DFS) and Engineering Support Requests (ESRs).
- Review Work Items and Process Control Procedures (PCPs) when required.
- Train ship's force personnel during assistance or assessment visits.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of nine (9) years of general hands-on mechanical experience with US Navy HM&E equipment.
- At least five (5) years specialized hands-on experience in troubleshooting, assessing, operating, repairing, and maintaining US Naval Ships' Main Propulsion and Auxiliary Equipment (Steam).
- Proficiency in using general and special purpose electronic test equipment.
- EPA "Universal" Certification to handle/work with refrigerant.
ADA Notations:
- Must have the physical ability to move around the ship and access equipment in various locations.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects and equipment (specific weight requirements will vary depending on the task).
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and withstand extreme temperatures.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Must be able to utilize computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite, for compiling information and generating reports.
- Must have a current security clearance (expiration date must be provided on resume).
