This position is for Coalinga State Hospital

Perform miscellaneous skilled work in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of buildings and mechanical systems, and other duties as required. May instruct, lead, or supervise patient/client workers; and to do other related work.

The work schedule for this position will be Saturday-Wednesday. Selected candidate will be required to work weekends as part of their regular scheduled work week.

Working Conditions
Physical labor is an essential component in remedy of most Plant Operations related conditions. The incumbent must be able to go up and down stairs and ladders, and traverse crawl spaces under buildings and above ceilings, and descend into excavations bringing with him or her the tools and supplies necessary to repair the system being serviced. An incumbent must possess a drivers license and the physical ability to drive plant operations vehicles and operate power tools safely and effectively as well as being physical capable of accomplishing the work and working at a rate sufficient to carry his or her fair share of the workload.

Department Information
DSH-Coalinga opened in 2005 and began treating forensically committed patients, mostly of which are sexually violent predators. It is a self-contained psychiatric hospital constructed with a security perimeter. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) provides perimeter security as well as transportation of patients to outside medical services and court proceedings.
