The General Services Bureau provides facility management services for five hundred plus (500+) customers housed in fifteen (15) state owned buildings (SB) this is over 260,000 thousand square feet of space on approx. twenty-six (26) acres of property
Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for maintenance and repairs for buildings and grounds at the New Mexico Department of Transportation's General Office Complex.
How does it get done?
This position will perform maintenance and repair via work orders from the Buildings and Grounds Section,
such as grounds keeping, recycle pick up, furniture moves, etc.
Who are the customers?
General Office Complex Employees of the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have preferred experience/education in the following areas:
* Experience in building maintenance and repairs.
* Experience performing interior /exterior painting.
* Ability to operate power and hand tools and light equipment.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and three (3) months of experience in general buildings and grounds maintenance, custodial duties, construction, plumbing, electrical and/or appliance repair. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
This position is designated a safety sensitive position within the meaning of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 and must abide by all provisions of the Federal Omnibus Transportation Testing Act. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions such as hot, cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow. Lifting, climbing, walking stooping and hazards such as power tools, boilers, height, noise levels fumes and rodents. Work may be performed indoors and out, in all types of weather conditions. On call 24/7 during inclement weather.
