Position Description

Performs administrative support-related work in a maintenance office or district headquarters. Work requires contact with private entities.

Essential Duties:

Maintenance Support Tech I:

  • Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and serves as receptionist or front

    desk assistant.
  • Assists district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles and minor equipment.
  • Conducts monthly spot inventories, verifies inventory findings, reconciles and coordinates with Business Services on

    adjustments needed.
  • Maintains and updates office files/records/logs and a wide variety of automated systems in support of per budgeting, maintenance, inventory, contracts, purchasing, travel information, and/or permitting activities.
  • Maintains radio contact with field units; responds to assists with emergency situations as required.
  • Reviews, prepares and negotiates applicable program purchases for services, office materials, supplies, tools and equipment and monitors contracts.
  • Processes receipts and invoices for payment.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.


Additional duties for Maintenance Support Tech II include:

  • Maintains materials inventory.
  • Researches and compiles information for reports or inquiries and assists in organizing, coordinating and preparing written or statistical reports.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education for Maintenance Support Tech I and II: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.

Experience: Maintenance Support Tech I: None Maintenance Support Tech II: 1 YEAR in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience.

(Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

  • Inventory/stock control procedures.
  • Purchasing methods and procedures.

  • Maintaining effective working relationships with other.

  • Coordinating labor, materials, and equipment.


Ability to:

  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Show initiative and action beyond what is required to improve products or services; is self-starting and completes assignments independently without constant supervision.


Additional competencies for Maintenance Support Tech II include:

Considerable knowledge of:

  • Prioritizing and organizing work assignments


Ability to:

Maintain composure when handling problems, stressful situations, continuous change or unexpected developments

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions for Maintenance Support Tech I and II:

  • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools.
  • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Sitting - prolonged periods of time Standing-prolonged periods of time.
  • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
