Maintenance Worker

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Worker

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Valid Driver's License
3. Preferred HVAC and/or Electrical Experience
4. Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations

FLSA: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan.

Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Good Knowledge of tools, materials, and methods to safely perform the work required.
2. Ability to perform grounds keeping and minor maintenance.
3. Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
4. Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
5. Ability to work out doors in a variety of conditions and temperatures.
6. Ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies.
7. Ability to get along with students, teachers, and the general public.
8. Ability to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds.
9. Ability to move furniture, supplies and materials.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Experience in general building maintenance including HVAC & electrical.
2. Establishes priorities on repairs and general building maintenance, both inside and outside the buildings.
3. Examines school buildings and grounds on a regular basis for needed repairs and general maintenance needs.
4. Completes and requests assistance for repairs or projects.
5. Requests assistance for general repairs or projects beyond their capabilities.
6. Replace light bulbs and clean light covers as needed.
7. Orders materials and supplies as needed for the repairs and general maintenance needs of the schools.
8. Assume other reasonable and equitable duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
