Job Summary

Responsible for planning and managing Biomed Engineering services. Works with the Biomedical Staff, is responsible for the repair and ongoing operation and maintenance of Patient Care Equipment and related electronic systems. Periodically reports status of Equipment Maintenance Records and Incidents to the appropriate Hospital Committee and is responsible for same. Responsible for biomedical records as required by JCAHO, other regulatory agencies and the various manufacturers. Responsible for writing, maintaining, and implementing departmental, inter- departmental, and administrative policies. Ensures departmental staff is adequately trained and receives on-going training in the equipment they service. Establishes department Capital and Operating Budget. Assists in Patient Care Equipment Master Planning and recommendations for equipment repairs and replacement. As requested, participates in purchasing decisions related to medical equipment. Develops, negotiates, and administers medical maintenance contracts. Hires, reprimands, disciplines and commends staff. Performs job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or Certificate in BioMedical Engineering Technology from an accredited 2 year program, or equivalent Military Electronics Training or Electronics School Program may be considered a substitute.
• Minimum of ten (10) years BioMedical Engineering technical experience of which five (5) years experience as assistant in leading a BioMedical Engineering program or as OEM/ISO field service manager.
• Written and Verbal skills are important to exchange information and understanding with technical and professional level individuals as well as non-technical individuals.
