Responsibilities

The Business Office Manager manages and directs the activities of the Business Office billing, collection and clerical staff, financial counseling and data processing staff (at the option of the Chief Financial Officer). This is a working manager position performing claims review, appeals, etc.

JOB SUMMARY:
  • Negotiates external agency contracts.
  • Assists CFO in reviewing and determining accounts for placement with external collecting agencies.
  • Oversees on-line data processing system.
  • Oversees the performance of Accounts Payable, Receptionist and Utilization Review..
  • Oversees employees and environment to ensure compliance departmental and hospital safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs tasks including the billing, follow up and collection of patient accounts from a collectible status.
  • Maintain MIDAS denial log to ensure accounts are reserved at the correct amounts and added appropriately, and most up to date.
  • Facilitate weekly accounts receivable review. Assists and oversees insurance verification.
  • Assists patients/families with financial arrangements.
  • Takes an active role in attaining and maintaining collections.
  • Generates computer reports daily.
  • Assists Utilization Review in monitoring patient benefits.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education: BS in Finance, Management, or General Business preferred but not required.

Experience: 5 plus years of experience in the patient revenue cycle is required and can be substituted for a degree.

Must have a strong knowledge of the patient revenue cycle.. Must be a subject matter expert regarding patient Hospital Billing rules, regulations and compliance.
