Job Description:
AUV Systems Manufacturing Engineering Manager plays a critical role in the execution of new products/changes, process sustainment and continuous improvement of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle production. To be successful in this role this leader must be able to effectively communicate with influence across Design Engineering disciplines, Program Managers, Supply Chain and within the Operations team while leading and mentoring other Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians. This is a hands on role that engages with nearly the entire AUVS organization.

Job Description:
AUV Systems Manufacturing Engineering Manager plays a critical role in the execution of new products/changes, process sustainment and continuous improvement of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle production. To be successful in this role this leader must be able to effectively communicate with influence across Design Engineering disciplines, Program Managers, Supply Chain and within the Operations team while leading and mentoring other Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians. This is a hands on role that engages with nearly the entire AUVS organization.
Essential Functions:
- Development of mechanical/electrical/software integration work instructions including process development and build/test logistics, process documentation, and fixture design for use by technicians.
- Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
- Support assembly processes including implementation of design changes, process improvements, general troubleshooting, and corrective actions. Interface with engineering representatives to ensure requirements are met.
- Support Design for Manufacturing and Assembly efforts to drive product simplification.
- Apply Lean tools to identify and develop process optimization opportunities.
- Responsible for leading technician team on the manufacturing, integration, and test activities
- Responsible for training, mentoring and leading both technician and engineering team
- Required to work with program leadership team to ensure earned value management milestones are being met and address any variances
- Capture and address nonconformance using root cause corrective action methodology
- Position will include functional leadership responsibilities including supervisory tasks
- Preparing and conducting Manufacturing Readiness Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews
- Proficiency following engineering drawings and processes
Qualifications:
- Requires Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Prior management experience
- ISO 9001
- DoD supplier and program experience
- Proficiency in Solidworks
- Familiarity with SAP
- Lean/Toyota Production System/VSM
- Secret Level Clearance
