Under the Direction of the Administrative Director and Chairman of the Department of Medicine, the Manager Medical Education is responsible for managing the administrative and day-to-day operations and projects for the Internal Medicine residency Training Program. Works to promote efficient and effective services of the Abington Hospital - Jefferson Health Internal Medicine Residency Training Program.

Essential Functions:
  • Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Abington - Jefferson health the hospital of choice for patients and employees.
  • Oversees and manages documentation systems for all aspects of the residency program including, but not limited to: schedules, rotations (on and off site), work hours, scholarly activity, performance parameters/evaluations, CME tracking and expenses, conferences, certifications, PLA and affiliation agreements, certificate on insurance and visa information. Responsible for managing and updating all programmatic information via various accreditation systems for national review committees. Coordinates special projects including the Internal medicine in-training exam, intern retreat, and O.S.C.E. training for PGY 1 interns and effectively communicates between internal and external agencies in addition to the scheduling and participation in regular meetings required to maintain guidelines of the residency program.
  • Manages the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) application process, recruitment, applicant interview process and National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Provides timely statistical information and analysis on applicant process. Manages the orientation of incoming residents to the program.
  • Supports and manages wellness activities for residents/staff.
  • In collaboration with Program Director and GME office, identifies opportunities for improvement based on feedback from residents/chiefs and works collaboratively to ensure effective follow up on improvement.
  • Represents the Internal Medicine Department on graduate medical education committees and attends ACGME required meetings on a regular basis.
  • Works closely with Administrative Director to assist in maintaining departmental budgets.
  • Supervises supply inventories for accurate ordering and billing. Provides administrative support for department and faculty.
  • Qualifications
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of administrative experience required, preferably with a residency program or medical school. Program Coordination experience preferred. An additional 4+ years of related work experience if no degree.
  • Education & Training:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred, or an additional 4+ years of related work experience if no degree.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Detail oriented, possess strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills. Personal computer and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point). Medical terminology a plus.

    Conditions of Employment
