ANNUAL SALARY (DEPENDING ON SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): $110,518.00 - $187,807.00

SCOPE: Position will work in conjunction with, and by the direction of the Director of Medical Oncology Clinical Services, to provide clinical support for operations to existing practice locations and newly acquired practices by consulting and advising clinicians on best practices, implementation of and providing of education and training programs, and collaborating on interdisciplinary projects. Provides oversight of Clinical Team Members and Navigation/Concierge Program. Supports and adheres to EPIC Care Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure clinical operations and practice is consistent with organizational objectives. Oversees infusion operations at all sites. Facilitates the implementation and/or utilization of outcomes data and evidence-based practices at all infusion sites.
  • Provides oversight for functions of nurse leaders and APP staff.
  • Works in conjunction with the service line manager to oversee the navigation and concierge services.
  • Assess staffing levels and issues, patient flow, current practices in the clinical setting.
  • Facilitates implementation of standardized best practices within the organization utilizing industry standard KPIs and operational metrics. Updates and coordinates NCCN guidelines into practice.
  • Coordinates and monitors training for all nursing and APP personnel to maximize service to patients in accordance with practice policies and procedures; coordinate staff training/in-services as required to update staff on new medications and revised protocols.
  • Develop, review, revise and enforce clinical policies and procedures to reflect the safe, effective, and efficient practice modalities and treatment philosophies of the physicians and nursing staff for implementation throughout the practice. Build on the current Navigation program to create seamless care coordination of patients with all disease types. Create standardized metrics to ensure we are meeting agreed upon outcomes.
  • Maintain HIPPA compliance
  • In collaboration with HR, assist with posting requisitions for approved FTEs, assist with triaging candidates, and participate in the interview process alongside the Lead RN/Navigation Services at each specific hiring site. Coordinate new hire HR orientation and IT orientation. Work with Director of MOCS/HR to finalize salary for new hires.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of applicable labor laws and schedules and coordinates employee staffing including vacations, sick leave and overtime.
  • Oversight of overtime, chair utilization, nurse-patient ratio based on acuity within the clinical setting with a strong focus on fiscal responsibility.
  • Oversight of Lead RN's timely completion of performance evaluations. Provide quarterly performance evaluations of direct reports. Participate in the disciplinary process, crucial conversations, and write ups. Coach and mentor lead RNs when needed to ensure communication between lead RN and staff is clear and professional.
  • Oversight of Lead RNs to manage the orientation process of newly hired oncology nurses and yearly competency updates for all nursing staff per protocol and guidelines. Ensure lead RN is completing a 30-60-90-day orientation check in with orientee and preceptor, collecting appropriate orientation documentation at each check-in, and oversight of orientation timeline based on ability and comfort level of nurse.
  • Review and update nursing SOPs as needed with oversight from Director MOCS.
  • Maintain Culture of Care throughout all sites. Collaborate with all departments to ensure compliance and efficiency throughout the organization. Collaborates with practice management to provide support on operational projects such as site Quality Committees, Quality Oncology Practice Initiative site assessments, Advancing Care Information, the Oncology Care Model (OCM), and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) preferred
  • BLS / CPR Certified required
  • CA Registered Nurse Practitioner License (active) required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 2+ year Clinical Nurse Practitioner required
  • 1 + year Oncology Outpatient Infusion Center or Acute Care Oncology Unit required
  • 2 year EMR required
  • 1 year Management / Supervisory/Operations experience required
  • Proficient MS Office / Mac equivalent required

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled medical practice environment. The position requires ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
