About the Position:

The MK Program Assistant for Mason Korea will provide program support for the MK study abroad program. The MK assistant will assist with initiatives to support semester and academic year study abroad programs at Mason Korea. The MK assistant will assist students to successfully transition to Mason Korea by supporting students through the application process, including processing their application materials, visa application process, preparing pre-departure orientation materials, marketing, and connecting them with resources at MK. The MK Assistant will also assist with marketing efforts and recruitment for study abroad. The MK Program Assistant will also assist with faculty relocation and MK boards.

Working Hours: 20-29 hours/week (Hybrid position - 1-2 days on campus and 3 days remote)

Responsibilities:

The MK Assistant reports to the Mason Korea Coordinator. Responsibilities include:
  • Oversee communication with study abroad cohorts;
  • Scheduling meetings for the study abroad program;
  • Manage study abroad application materials and general inquiries;
  • Prepares materials for the Welcome Orientation, visa and pre-departure workshops;
  • Monitor pre-departure logistics such as visa pick-up, flight departures, and arrivals;
  • Facilitate Patriot Activities Council applications, interviews and selection;
  • Communicate with various university partners regarding application dates, programs and deadlines;
  • Attend weekly check-ins with Mason Korea team;
  • Assist with event planning; and
  • Provide other administrative support related to MK study abroad as needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience serving college/university students and or working in an international organization;
  • Ability to present information in a clear and positive way to students with a variety of cultural and language backgrounds;
  • Aptitude for detailed oriented and accurate work;
  • Solid organizational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities for self and others, meet deadlines, and exercise good judgment;
  • The ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, administrators and the public in regards to the Mason Korea program;
  • Demonstrated experience fostering inclusivity and the ability to effectively navigate a multicultural environment; and
  • Demonstrated skills at attention to detail, flexibility with changing priorities and be able to handle multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience (typically at least one year) coordinating programming in support of international student success, particularly in the field of the study abroad experience;
  • Prior marketing/public relations experience; and
  • Event planning experience.
