SAIC has an immediate need for a Mechanical Engineer, supporting the MLRS team located on Redstone Arsenal, in Huntsville, Alabama.
Responsibilities and Roles:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BS, Mechanical Engineering and two (2) years or more related experience. An additional four (4) years of experience may be applied in lieu of a bachelors.
PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors.
FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under general direction on routine work. May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
IMPACT: Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources.
LIAISON: Primarily internal company contacts. Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.
CLEARANCE:
SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.

Responsibilities and Roles:
- This candidate will design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that require low level control processing (Interrupts, Timers Digital I/O and serial communication protocols) for electronic, electro-mechanical, or electro-optic equipment.
- Aid in the development of embedded software for use on real-time and near real-time operating systems and processors including networking and radio systems.
- Requires basic knowledge of reading schematics of complex electronic assemblies.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions.
- Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.

- Operate as a hybrid engineer for the Tools and Trainers (TnT) team.
- Candidate will learn the test asset environment thereby becoming a contributor to solution development and implementation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BS, Mechanical Engineering and two (2) years or more related experience. An additional four (4) years of experience may be applied in lieu of a bachelors.
- Ability to creatively problem solve, learn new skills (ADO, CAD, etc), and communicate/articulate solutions to management.
- Candidate will be flexible and willing to learn in an agile environment.
- An understanding of the MLRS system will be achieved through cross training in various roles.
