Samaritans Purse is seeking a Media Relations Coordinator to join our team at our International Headquarters location in Boone, N.C. You can be a part of a highly professional Communications team. As a Media Relations Coordinator you will assist the Communications department by serving as a contact and promoting Samaritans Purse projects through media outlets. A day in the life of a Media Relations Coordinator:

At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.

In the role of Media Relations Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to:

• Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Jesus Christ
• Interface with media relations staff and partners to develop and implement media strategy, provide information, and coordinate interviews with Samaritans Purse staff.
• Deploy domestically and internationally during crisis events to handle frontline media as needed.
• Write press releases, media alerts, and other documents for final review by the Executive Vice President.
• Monitor project activity to develop creative, relevant story angles for presentation to local, regional, national, and international media outlets.
• Communicate with media outlets, particularly local and regional media, to pitch stories for Samaritans Purse projects.
• Review media clips and provide feedback to staff. Serve as a spokesperson for Samaritans Purse when necessary.
• Obtain the necessary approvals for staff interviews. Assist affiliate offices in coordinating interviews with field staff and volunteers as needed.
• Promote Samaritans Purse activities including emergency relief, Operation Christmas Child, Operation Heal our Patriots, Childrens Heart Project, World Medical Mission, and other relief and evangelism efforts worldwide.
• Provide talking points for Samaritans Purse staff prior to media interviews.
• Follow policies and procedures of Samaritans Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual
• Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, donors and volunteers
• Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and two (2) to three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style
• Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies preferred, not required
