We are seeing a Medical Assistant Clinical Support Coordinator to assist with patient outreach, clinic support services, and navigation of the health care system. Our ideal candidate would be familiar with Epic. This is a hybrid role, that is primarily remote, but could be asked to go to clinic or the corporate office as needed if there is an organizational need or meetings to attend.

Summary:

The Medical Assist Clinical Support Coord provides centralized in basket support for designated clinic care
teams. Monitors incoming requests for services and routes appropriately based
on established guidelines. Assists with patient outreach, clinic support services,
and navigation of the health care system. Provides assistance with coverage of
COVID infusion scheduling or other COVID support as needed. While this is
primarily a remote position, redeployment to the clinic setting will occur
based on organizational needs.

Responsibilities:
1. Assists in collaborating with Onboarding and Optimization leadership, designated UNCPN clinic sites and others to develop and maintain a comprehensive workflow process for clinical support activities and projects.
2. Maintains communication with assigned practices and Onboarding and Optimization leaders to assure timely and efficient completion of jobs, proper communication of issues, proper documentation of the entire process, and achieve productivity targets.
3. Provides Epic in basket administrative/ clinical support as part of the centralized in basket team to designated departments/UNCPN clinics. The CMA will collaborate with clinic leadership, providers, Onboarding and Optimization leadership, and others as designated in the areas of clinic workflow, Provides Epic in basket support, medication refills using standard protocols, and organizational/system support as defined by leadership.
4. Monitors and evaluates goals/metrics as assigned, meets productivity targets, and is active in team/ clinic communication for improvements, barriers, and needed.
5. Participates in team meetings and communications for process improvement and follow up. Provides patient outreach while practicing within their scope, medication refill protocols, and, implements appropriate evidence based guidelines.
7. Appropriately documents interventions in the patient's electronic medical record.
8. Participates in care team meetings, performance improvement, and patient satisfaction initiatives. Reports barriers for efficient and effective care management and support to Onboarding and Optimization leadership.
9. Maintains compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and evidence based guidelines, and works within their scope.
10. While this is primarily a remote position, the Medical Assistant, Certified - Practice Support will be redeployed to a clinic or mobile setting as needed.

Education Requirements:
• None required as long as other position qualifications are met.
• Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is strongly preferred but not required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• Requires Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA). Prefer candidates with current Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association at the time of hire. If selected candidate does not possess BLS, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Professional Experience Requirements:
• Requires at least two years' experience as a medical assistant, preferably in an ambulatory care setting.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to engage positively with patients and families and to work as a team with staff and providers.
  • Works independently with effective time management skills.
  • Epic experience preferred
