Medical Billing - Trip Intake - Certified Ground Ambulance Coder

Starting Pay $19.00

The Coding Specialist works within the Trip Intake Team to ensure appropriate billing steps are followed in a timely manner.

Essential Functions/Duties

• Determines appropriate medical necessity and level of service provided

• Accurately assigns ICD-10(s) for transports

• Accurately bills ancillary charges as performed

• Ensure all accounts are worked appropriately to allow distribution to the floor in a timely manner

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Experience

• 6 months certified coder experience in EMS/ambulance setting

• Basic skills with Microsoft Excel

• Experience researching and identifying ICD-10 codes manually and on-line

Preferred experience

• Ground ambulance experience

• Current EMT license

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Current Medical Billing and Coding or Ambulance Coding certificate

• Medical terminology course

Skills:

• Ability to define and identify problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

• Ability to compile information, and apply data entry steps accurately to accounts
