The Medical Director of Population Health is a member of the senior leadership team of the UCLA Health Faculty Practice Group (FPG).

Under the direction of the FPG CMO, the Medical Director of Population Health works in a dyad relationship with the Director of Population Health, as well as the Director of Care of Care Management, and collaborates as needed with other UCLA Faculty Practice Group and UCLA Health leaders and stakeholders. This position provides physician leadership for the Office of Population Health and Accountable Care, and Ambulatory Care Management. This position collaborates on defined UCLA Faculty Practice Group, UCLA Medical Group, and UCLA Health programs that support strategic priorities and institutional goals of UCLA Health in Population Health Management. In doing all this work, this role works closely with other internal stakeholders of UCLA Health such as Nursing, Pharmacy, Contracting, IT, and Clinical Departments. This position contributes to the development of UCLA's Population Health strategy in alignment with overall health system strategy.

The clinical aspect of this role includes identifying and developing known best practice and novel care models and analytic approaches to achieve population health goals, priorities, and execute programs to execute UCLA Health system strategy. The role will support the Strategic Objectives for UCLA Health Population Health and the foundational pillars of the Office of Population Health and Accountable Care. This role has an externally facing role related to alternative payment models and participation with other UC campuses via UC Population Health (Oakland) initiatives, to benefit UCLA Health in its Population Health initiatives. This position will work within the nexus of information technology, clinical operations, and patient care models.

This position will require keeping abreast of the current healthcare environment within UCLA Health, the Southern California and West Coast regions, and the nation, regarding anticipated changes and trends that may affect the configuration and necessary response of UCLA's integrated professional practice. These include following and understanding changes in health system alignments and affiliations, changes in healthcare payment strategies, government health programs, statewide collaboratives (e.g., Integrated Healthcare Association), a variety of ACO and equivalent partnership programs, regulatory and reporting requirements, local and national quality measurement and incentive programs, and evidence-based practice initiatives.

The University of California, Los Angeles is required to provide an estimate of the salary range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Salary offers are determined based on candidate qualifications and experience. The target salary range for this position is $275,000 to $348,100 (annual).
