Job Description

Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Ensures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to the department’s policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas to maintain appropriate patient care. Assists in covering other shifts when necessary.

PRN Status Clause:

This is a PRN as-needed position, you must be available to work at least 12 hours bi-weekly, as needed according to departmental demands. You may be required to work additional hours if requested by your supervisor to accomplish work objectives. Work hours may vary (increase or decrease) depending on the needs of the unit.

Additional Job Description

Education: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience in the medical laboratory. Must meet qualification requirements for testing personnel set forth in Title 42, Sec. 493.1489, CLIA

License/Certification: Medical Lab Tech with ASCP or eligible for certification (must be obtained within 1 year of hire)
