\r General Summary of Position

Join our Medical\rTelemetry Unit - 5 Bles - Flexible PRN positions available!

5 Bles is a 20 Bed\rMedical Telemetry unit designed to provide specialized care for patients who\rare in need of continuous cardiac monitoring and complex medical nursing care.\rNurses provide care for a diverse patient population with a wide range of healthcare\rrequirements. Our entire staff is committed to the MedStar Georgetown mission\rof cura personalis, caring for the whole person. The 5 Bles nurses\rare supported with educational and specialty certification training\ropportunities. Professional development initiatives and leadership support\rempower nurses to become active and respected participants within the\rinter-professional team that provides evidence based, compassionate care to our\rpatients. Representatives from 5 Bles also led the implementation of the Nurses\rImproving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) Program. After a pilot on\rtwo medical units, it was expanded throughout the Division of Nursing.

Schedule: Minimum requirements to\rschedule Six 12-hour shifts (including 4 night or weekend) in a six-week\rschedule

General Summary of\rPosition: The incumbent in this\rposition is responsible for providing competent professional nursing care using\rthe nursing process. These functions are performed in accordance with all\rapplicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's\rphilosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Qualifications:
Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing preferred
Experience: To meet unit criteria, at least two (2) years recent acute care experience in the relevant patient care area.
License/Certification/Registration: Current D.C. license as a Registered Professional Nurse; certification in Basic Life Support. Certification in specialty or related specialty preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to perform the nursing technologies. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to set priorities and work under stress. Consideration will be given to an appropriate combination of education/training and experience.

Provides relationship-based care that promotes continuous, consistent,\refficient and accountable delivery of nursing care using the nursing process.
Demonstrates professional practice utilizing the framework of the professional\rpractice model and is grounded in a culture of safety and quality.
COMMUNICATION and\rCOLLABORATION
Communicates and collaborates with inter-professional groups to ensure\rcoordination, continuity and safe care.
Communicates verbal information and documents written and\relectronic information that reflects the planned and delivered care for\rpatients.
LEADERSHIP
Supports and contributes to the unit, department and organizational goals\rinclusive of the mission, vision and values.
Demonstrates advocacy and support on behalf of inter-professional teams and\rpatients.
Delegates and supervises nursing staff in providing patient care and assumes\rleadership roles, e.g., charge nurse role. Participates in the\rdevelopment and implementation of quality activities.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Serves as a preceptor or mentor.
Participates in professional development activities.
Incorporates evidence-based practice and research into patient care delivery.
