The Manager of Sterile Processing Services (SPS) is responsible for ensuring the appropriate management of activities related to the SPS support of Patient Care areas and Linen services. The Manager assists in achieving excellent customer, patient, physician, and employee relations; ensures resolution to any and all elements causing obstruction to or delays in service; and assists in creating and carrying out elements of the strategic plan as determined by upper levels of management. Also ensures and provides support for satisfactorily carrying out the duties of others as outlined in Asante job descriptions; directly or indirectly supervises activities of the employees assigned to SPS at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center; prepares, recommends, and implements annual operating and capital budgets; and develops and implements annual Performance Improvement Plan for area.
Key Responsibilities

  • Create a culture that fosters staff self-development and continued learning; define the qualifications and performance expectations for all staff positions; and ensure the competence of all staff is assessed, maintained, demonstrated, and improved continually.
  • Communicate and implement the strategic direction of the organization that fulfills the mission, vision, and values of Asante.
  • Encourage feedback from internal and external customers, including patients/families, to monitor service effectiveness, identify problems with work processes, and ensure that customer needs are met.
  • Develop an annual operating budget and capital expenditure plan, including a mechanism to monitor plan implementation and outcomes; assist in maintaining Asante's profitability through innovative and diligent application of sound resource management principles.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and ensure that they are implemented as mandated by regulatory bodies.
Position Qualifications
Education

  • Associate degree in Health Care Administration, Business, or related field - or an equivalent combination of education and work experience (2 additional years of experience if no degree) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration or related allied health field, preferred .
Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of recent SPS experience in a health care setting comparable to that of the Asante Health System, of which two (2) more years were in a management position at a level of responsibility providing a wide range of demonstrated skills in communication, operations management and productivity, quality management, human resources management, fiscal management, and customer relations.
Certifications

ONE of the following is required :

  • CSPDT: Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician.
  • CRCST: Certified Registered Central Service Technician.
  • CSPDS: Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Supervisor.
