About this role

What will you be responsible for?
The Millwright Technician 1-6 is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and overhauling mechanical systems and equipment in an open pit mining operation. This role involves working with various machinery and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety of all mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy industrial process maintenance, a strong understanding of mechanical systems, and the ability to work in a challenging and dynamic environment.

In this role you will

Here is a snapshot of what your day-to-day will look like
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on mining equipment such as conveyors, crushers, pumps, and other heavy machinery to ensure continuous operation.
  • Equipment Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues on a wide range of equipment used in open pit mining, including hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and engines.
  • Installation and Assembly: Assemble new equipment and machinery, ensuring alignment, balance, and proper operation.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety meetings and training.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and equipment logs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance and operations staff to ensure effective communication and minimal downtime of equipment.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly, minimizing production loss by performing efficient and effective repairs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving equipment reliability and work processes, contributing to overall efficiency and safety.


Your Training, Skills & Experience

Here is what we need to see from you!
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Millwright in an industrial or mining environment.
  • Certifications: Certification as a Millwright is preferred; other relevant certifications are an asset.
  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in challenging conditions, including exposure to outdoor weather, noise, and physically demanding tasks.
  • Problem-solving: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety regulations and procedures.


Working Conditions & Location

  • This position is located at our Cripple Creek & Victor Mine Site near Cripple Creek, CO. The work environment is located above 10,000 ft. which requires working at high altitude. The successful candidate must pass a high-altitude medical assessment.
  • Monday - Thursday 6am-4pm and work one weekend a month.

This position has multiple levels (which may range from level 1 up to level 6). The hourly rate offered for this overtime-eligible role will depend on the level, and the range of the hourly rate is USD $30.70- 47.32
