Monitor Technician-Free Standing Emergency Department

To qualify for a Monitor Technician position an employee must be trained in basic cardiac arrhythmia

interpretation and observes cardiac monitors. Accurately identifies cardiac rhythms and notifies Clinical

Manager and/or caregiver when cardiac rhythm changes occur. Promotes and maintains patient support

including but not limited to: interprets and post rhythm strips and protocol, performs 12 lead EKGs.

Maintain and clean portable telemetry monitors between patient use according to manufacturers guidelines.

Qualifications

Education:

High School graduate or GED required. Successful completion of an approved EMT program

preferred. Able to read, write, and comprehend medical technology.

Post hire the employee must achieve 95% on a subsequent written EKG strip test. Before staff can

assume independent shifts and Annual Competency Program Evaluation written tests will be

evaluated; observation will be conducted; process who to notify for monitor will be evaluated; proce

for escalation of EKG monitor problems to caregiver will be evaluated.

Experience in a health care setting preferred. Proficient with medical technology. Previous experience in a

related position desirable. Able to relate to patients, physicians, hospital personnel and visitors in a positive and

responsive way. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Good written and oral communication skills.

Computer skills preferred. Able to read, write and comprehend medical technology.
