Duties

Major duties include, but are not limited to: .
  • Developing simple work procedures, making minor changes as required.
  • Inspecting the work of all employees of the unit for compliance and specifications.
  • Scheduling and approving leave that will afford proper work coverage
  • Ensuring all maintenance records are kept on all vehicles and equipment of the unit
  • Plans, schedules, and sequences assignments on a daily or project-by-project
basis for assigned Transportation Team within general work schedules and

priorities established by the Supervisory Mobility Transportation Specialist
  • Plans and coordinates work operations and vehicular-transportation maintenance
within the Transportation Team and geographical sites. Establishes priorities and

deadlines based upon workload considerations and policies set by management

officials.
  • Proposes changes that will increase efficiency and economy of Unit operations
  • Establishes performance standards for each position under his/her supervision and
evaluates performance of subordinates against those standards

Must possess a valid A or B driver's license with passenger and air brake endorsements.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday,6:30am to 300 pm

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

This position requires a valid driver's license with passenger and air brake endorsements.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Considerable walking, climbing, bending and lifting is required. Position requires good vision and physical alertness when operation and training employees in the operating of various equipment. The majority of work is performed indoors; however, responsibilities may require work outdoors or in the operation of a motor vehicle. Incumbent may be subject to cuts, bruises, and minor potential harm as afforded by working with machinery and power tools. Employees may be exposed to noise levels exceeding 85 dba. This type of exposure may adversely affect hearing. Protection devises while operating all combustion engine-powered equipment is mandatory. Employee must be able to hear while wearing ear protection at a level to safely perform assigned duties.
