Our work depends on a Field Computer Specialist joining our NCIS team in San Diego, CA.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of over 2,200 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the Department of Navy (DON) component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities.

HOW OUR FIELD COMPUTER SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
  • Helps diagnose and resolve computer-related problems as requested by employees and contractors, either in person or by using remote control software for seven (7) sites
  • Responsible for 7x24 day-to-day operations of mission critical systems and services
  • Responds to telephone calls and email requests for technical support
  • Assists with the disposal of IT equipment (DRMO)
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots, resolves, and documents problems with business applications and hardware on all enclaves
  • Performs Tier 1-3 functions and is expected to resolve or assist in resolving complex issues
  • Assigns passwords and monitors use of resources
  • Oversees system recovery mechanisms
  • Leverages experience to provide input to improvements (People, Process, Tools, Technical)
  • Exhibits the capability to resolve issues independently
  • Coordinates, communicates, escalates required changes and major issues
  • Brief Senior Leadership on all IT issues affecting the AOR
  • Accurately documents all work, inventory, and system changes in ServiceNow
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED (Required):
  • Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret
  • Required Experience:
  • 5+ years of IT support experience to include helpdesk, desktop, network, VTC and other end user tools
  • Well-rounded general computer system, network administration, encryption devices, VTC, VoIP and user support experience is necessary
  • Experience in troubleshooting network issues (router and switches, Microsoft servers and vSphere a plus
  • Experience inBlackberry Enterprise support and solutions
  • Experience with the NGEN IT infrastructure and enterprise class networks
  • Ability to administer user accounts and device associations in Active Directory
  • Must have prior experience with installation, operation, configuration, and maintenance of multiple types of business and end user-specific application software in a large government installation
  • Required Certifications: Security+ CE
  • Education: BS/BA Degree or an additional 4 years of work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Location: Onsite at San Diego, CA
  • Travel Requirement: 10%. Minimum of 4 visits per year at the following locations: Seal Beach CA; Port Hueneme CA; Ventura CA; China Lake CA; Monterey CA and Fallon NV.

The likely salary range for this position is $88,275 - $102,350. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
